I always wanted to be a comic strip artist like Bill Watterson, Charles Schulz or Jim Davis. Unfortunately the newspaper comic strip was largely extinct by the time I tried to make a career of it, so when I became a children's magazine designer, I naturally seized the opportunity to write a comic strip. Initially, I drew it myself, but soon enlisted the help of an illustrator so I could just focus on writing and layout.
